Kwa miaka mingi baadhi ya mila na desturi zetu zimetufunga hadi kutufikisha mahali ambapo imekuwa ni vigumu kwetu kubaini ukweli kuhusu mambo muhimu yanayotuzunguka, yakiwa ni yale yanayohusu sisi na miili yetu na yale yaliyonje ya miili hii.
Kwa mfamo hadi leo kuna watoto wa umri mkubwa kufikia miaka saba ambao hawajui majina ya baba au mama zao. Lakini pia kuna vijana wa umri wa kuvunja ungo au balehe ambao hawajui ni kwa vipi mtoto anapatikana hasa maeneo ya vijijini. Kuna watu wazima ambao hadi leo mjadala kuhusu kifo ukiingizwa kenye mazungumzo huwa hawako tayari kusikiliza wakiamini kuwa huo ni mwiko na uchoro mkubwa. Hali hii kwa sehemu kubwa inatokana na desturi na mila zetu ambazo zimepogoka na zinahitaji kutazamwa upya kama zina faida kwa jamii. Baadhi ya mambo ambayo yamekuwa yakichukuliwa kama mwiko mkubwa kuyajadili hadharani au hata kati ya watu zaidi ya mmoja ni yale yanayohusu mbegu za kiume, yai la mwanamke na upatikanaji wa mimba.
Siyo jambo la siri kwamba mada zenye kuhusu mambo haya ni nadra sana kujadiliwa katika jamii yetu na wengi ni maamuma kabisa kuhusiana na masuala haya. Inawezekana ikawashangaza wengi pale mtu atakaposema kuwa mwanamume anaweza kumpa mimba mwanamke bila mwanamume huyo kukutana kimwili na mwanamke anayehusika.
