Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow: Father had a special responsibility to ensure the safety of his family. He had to have a house where his wife and children would live. Houses were built in different styles in various parts of the country. The Wanyakyusa had their own construction, different from that of the Waha. All built with very attractive craftsmanship. Our government has preserved in the form of museums houses built by residents of various parts of the country using their traditional styles. These houses are in a museum village located just outside Dar es Salaam city. Father, in cooperation with mother, had the responsibility to ensure that their community had enough food. From an early age, children also participated in activities of finding and preparing food. Some communities in this country were engaged only in animal husbandry. The life and wealth of these communities depended on animals. From their childhood, the main training was about animal husbandry. For example, a Maasai child learned to graze and protect his animals from childhood. He had to be a strong warrior, able to fight enemies who wanted to seize their animals. He had to be able to fight wild animals that attacked their livestock. Killing a lion was a great sign of bravery for a Maasai youth. Training to prepare the young man, from his childhood, for the tasks he would face in life, took up a large part of his upbringing. A Waha youth faced very different circumstances from his Maasai counterpart. The Waha are farmers; animal husbandry played only a small part in their economic activities. The Waha cultivate permanent crops such as banana plants; their farms required good protection and care. Therefore, a strong government ensuring peace in the country so that citizens could continue their farming activities peacefully was needed. The Waha also needed permanent houses, as their living conditions did not allow for frequent migration like the Maasai. Thus, comprehensive training was needed to prepare children for such a life. Life in various parts of the country necessitated special ways of raising, teaching, and preparing them for what they would face in the future.
